Command Sergeant Major Duriel Mitchem

Command Sergeant Major Duriel L. Mitchem is a native of Clearwater, Florida; he entered the United States Army in May of 2003, attended Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas where he was awarded the military occupational specialty of Health Care Specialist/Combat Medic (68W).

Command Sgt. Maj. Duriel Mitchem currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader at Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC). ATAMMC is a 120-bed, 1.3 million-square-foot joint military medical facility that serves a regional population of 250,000 personnel, with 90,000 enrollees receiving inpatient and specialty care services, supported by 55 specialty clinics, an Inpatient Addictions Program, the DiLorenzo Pentagon Health Clinic, and two satellite ambulatory care centers in Dumfries and Fairfax, Va. 

His assignments include: Command Sergeant Major, U.S. Army Medical Department Activity Bavaria, Vilseck, Germany; Support Operations Sergeant Major, 56th Multifunctional Medical Battalion, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; Operations NCO, 18th Medical Command (DS), Fort Shafter, Hawaii; First Sergeant, Charlie Company, 725th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska; Medical Platoon Sergeant, 6th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska; Optometry NCOIC, Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Ophthalmology NCOIC, Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Optometry NCOIC, Keller Army Community Hospital, West Point, New York; Ophthalmology NCOIC, Keller Army Community Hospital, West Point, New York. He has served as an Eye Technician at Moncrief Army Community Hospital, Fort Jackson, South Carolina and as a Health Care Specialist/Track Vehicle Ambulance Driver at 1st Battalion, 72nd Armor Regiment at Camp Casey, Korea. He has also deployed to Iraq as a Border Transition Team Medical Advisor in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

His military and civilian education include: Brigade Pre-Command Course, Battalion Pre-Command Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Battle Staff Course, Cold Weather Leaders Course, National Training Center Observer Coach Trainer Academy, Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention Certification Course, Advanced Military Transition Team Course, Brigade Combat Team Trauma Course, Senior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Basic Leader Course, Lean Six Sigma Course (Black Belt), Lean Six Sigma Course (Green Belt), Eye Specialty Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Airborne School, and Air Assault School. He has also completed a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management from Excelsior College and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University.
